After eighteen months of working in Presteigne to upgrade the wastewater network, Welsh Water is offering local community groups the chance to receive £250 to give something back to the communities affected by the innovative work.
Since December 2020, the not-for-profit company have been investing over £8 million to upgrade the wastewater network in Presteigne. The work being carried out by the not-for profit utility company has helped improve the quality of the water which is released to the environment. This in turn will boost water quality in the Norton Brook and River Lugg and ensure customers continue to receive a first-class wastewater service for decades to come.
Now, the not-for-profit water company is encouraging all non-profit organisations in the Presteigne area who have been impacted by the work, including local community groups, charities and schools, to apply for the chance to receive £250 as a way of saying thank you to these communities.
Claire Roberts, Head of Community Engagement at Welsh Water, said: "To say thank you to the community for bearing with us while we upgraded the wastewater network, we’re offering four community groups the chance to receive a £250 donation. We are a socially responsible company and are always keen to support local communities, so by providing funding to support the excellent work these organisations offer is our way of giving something back to benefit the local area in Presteigne."
To be eligible for funding, the groups must be based within the Norton and Presteigne areas and have been affected by our investment project. They can apply for the funding to help them develop, launch or maintain a community project, which they will manage and deliver.
