Lila Thompson to stand down as Glas Cymru Non-Executive Director

7 November 2025

After three years as a Non-Executive Director of Glas Cymru, the not-for-profit company that owns Welsh Water, Lila Thompson has decided to step down from the Board with immediate effect.

This is due to the increasing demands of her position as Chief Executive of British Water and other roles.

Lila said: “I have thoroughly enjoyed working with the dedicated team at Welsh Water through a very challenging period for the sector. With significant reform on the horizon and growing commitments now is the right time to stand down. I have every confidence that Welsh Water will thrive in future years under the guidance of the company’s new Chief Executive, Roch Cheroux, and will build on the legacy of Pete Perry’s strong leadership.”

Jane Hanson CBE, Chair of Glas Cymru, said: “Lila has brought a wealth of experience, insight and knowledge that has been of great benefit to the company. On behalf of the Board, I wish to thank her for her contribution over the past three years and wish her all the best for the future.”
