Welsh Water donates over £11,000 to community projects in the Rhymney Valley

Dŵr Cymru Welsh Water have awarded over £11,000 to local foodbanks and community groups across the Rhymney Valley since starting its multimillion-pound investment project in the area.

The funding has been made up by donations from the project team and the not-for-profit company’s Community Fund, which helps communities boost fundraising efforts for good causes in their area. The funding has helped a diverse range of community activities such as sports groups, environmental projects, developmental projects, and musical groups.

Ryan Jones, a member of CRT’s Game On project, welcomed the grant stating that: "The grant has really helped the group take walking football to a new level in the Rhymney Valley."

Phill Williams, the Secretary of Upper Rhymney Valley Walking Football Group, said: "The Upper Rhymney Valley Walking Football Group has been set up to enhance the mental and physical well-being of people in the Upper Rhymney Valley. The group is open to anyone irrespective of age, gender, sexual orientation or disability which is a great way to include everyone in the community. We are extremely grateful for the funding we have received from Dŵr Cymru Welsh Water. With this donation, we have been able to purchase a new kit for the team and we will continue to develop and enhance the project to the community of the Rhymney Valley."
