As part of Dŵr Cymru Welsh Water’s commitment to give back to the community during these uncertain times, five charities have received £1000 from the not for profit company’s Community Fund.
As part of the company’s community week earlier this year where colleagues took part in volunteering activities around our operational area, Colleagues were asked to nominate local charities in their local area who they’d like to support. One of the successful charities was Cwtch Baby Bank, which is the first baby bank in Wales to provide essential equipment for babies. The charity redistributes pre-loved baby items to vulnerable families through referrals from various support agencies.
The fund has helped the charity to purchase moses baskets which include a variety of donated and purchased essential items to help the most vulnerable families through the winter period.
Clare Bird, Distribution Centre Manager at Cwtch Baby Bank said:
"Hilary Johnston, founder of the charity, has done such an incredible job setting up and running the charity for the last 5 years, providing essentials to so many vulnerable families.
"Your support has been greatly appreciated and makes such a difference to us at a time when fundraising has been so difficult."
Claire Roberts, Head of Community Engagement for Welsh Water said:
"We’re a socially responsible company – this is what customers and colleagues expect of us. We always look at opportunities to support and to give back to local communities and are keen to involve our colleagues in that decision. We are delighted to see how the funding benefit communities around our operational area.
"We already play a key role in our communities by providing the most essential of services – clean water, treating and getting rid of wastewater safely and we’re delighted to support local groups in this way."
Welsh Water also offer local communities they are investing in the opportunity to apply to their Community Fund. This is a chance for you to boost fundraising efforts for good causes in their area. If you live in an area where work is taking place – and you’re fundraising for projects to benefit the community – you could receive funding from Welsh Water up to a value of £1,000.
