Dinas Powys Library and Activity Centre successfully secured £500 funding from Dŵr Cymru Welsh Water’s Community Fund. This was awarded as part of the not-for-profit company’s £50 million investment to create a new energy generating facility at its Cog Moors Wastewater Treatment Works.
The community library in Dinas Powys has been managed and run by volunteers since 2016 after the library almost had to close due to funding cuts. Since then, the team have gone from strength to strength and there are now more than 60 volunteers helping to maintain the core services that the centre has to offer. The funding has enabled the library to new equipment for local residents to use, such as new children's tables, chairs and bean bags.
Clare Richardson, Treasurer at Dinas Powys Library and Activity Centre, said: "We are very grateful for the funding received from Dwr Cymru Welsh Water. It has enabled us to purchase new children's tables, chairs and bean bags, which will be a great help to make the library more attractive and welcoming for our young visitors.”
