Trap and Llandyfan
We’re investing over £3 million to improve the water network in Trap and the Llandyfan area. This will help continue to provide our customers in the area with a safe, reliable supply of clean drinking water for decades to come.
The work will help to ensure security of supply to our customers and to alleviate issues with loss of supply or low water pressure currently experienced by some customers in the area.
What does this work involve?
Some of our pipes that provide customers with their morning shower and cups of tea are over 100 years old. Over time natural deposits can build up inside the pipes and slow the flow of the water. While these deposits are not harmful, every now and then we need to clear the pipes to keep the water running freely.
With some parts of the network nearing the end of its operational life, the investment in this area will see us replace 3.2 km of pipework.
Where will the work take place?
The work will begin in early June 2024 and we expect to be completed by Spring 2025.

If we do need to work outside of your property, we’ll be sure to contact you directly closer to the time and will be updating the ‘In Your Area’ section of our website with any specific traffic management plans.
We’ll have a compound and welfare unit situated in the field opposite Tir Goetre Farm for the duration of the work.

To receive these text message updates, please make sure we have an up-to-date mobile or landline telephone number for your household. You can check this and update your contact details by contacting us on Live Chat on our website or by calling our 24-hour contact number on 0800 052 0130.
Vulnerable customers or those with additional needs, who are signed up to our Priority Services Register, will be notified of this interruption and provided with bottled water if needed. If you require bottled water, while this work takes place, then we can arrange this for you too.
This is quite normal. Discoloured water is unlikely to be harmful to health but we wouldn’t expect anyone to drink it when it looks unpleasant. It usually clears fairly quickly after a few minutes of flushing your taps through, but it may take around 45 minutes of running the tap before it clears.
If you are concerned and the discolouration hasn’t cleared, please contact us.
Avoid washing clothes until the water is turned back on and clear. If you have washed clothes and the discoloured water has stained your washing, please re-wash when the supply has cleared.
Unfortunately, as a not for profit company, we are not able to cover costs incurred of using the diversion route.
