We are preparing to undertake essential maintenance work to our drawdown tower at Llandegfedd Reservoir to ensure that it continues to operate safely.
We have a legal obligation to do the work this summer and we need to erect scaffolding to undertake the work. Temporary netting has been placed on 5 of the 12 recesses on the tower to keep birds safely away from the specific parts of the working area.
Having reviewed our approach today, we are bringing forward the work to install the scaffolding which will now be done early next week and the netting will then be removed.
There are no house martins on the site at present and are not expected before the netting is removed early next week. As originally planned, we are also installing additional nesting boxes at the site. We appreciate that the use of netting has raised concerns, but would like to reassure people that the netting will be removed early next week.
