Welsh Water colleagues help spruce up communities as part of Great British Spring Clean Week

With Spring now in the air, colleagues from across Welsh Water have been rolling up their sleeves and getting involved in helping to tidy up local communities as part of the Great British spring clean week.
Colleagues from the Not-for-profit company swapped their tools for litter pickers to carry out voluntary community clean-ups around our operational area.
One area to benefit was the Troed-Y-Rhiw area of Merthyr Tydfil where Welsh Water is working as part of their £10m investment project to upgrade the drinking water network and reduce leaks in their working areas. Along with their contract partners on the project, Lewis Civil Engineering, the team got to work clearing up any discarded litter to leave the area neat and tidy for the local community.
Claire Roberts, Head of Community Engagement, said: “We are investing £10m to ensure we continue to provide a first-class water service to our customers and local communities. We always want to make sure we have a positive impact in communities where we are working and think The Great British Spring clean week was an ideal opportunity for us to work as a team to make a difference. The teams really enjoyed taking part and collected lots of unwanted rubbish which was recycled and disposed of safely.”
Alex Morgan, Site Manager for Lewis CE, said: ‘We are always keen to give back to the communities that we are investing in. The team members are happy to help and want to make sure that their working areas are presentable at all times. The Great British Spring Clean has been a great event to get involved in to demonstrate that we are always there to offer a helping hand’
