The Bowmen Sevens, a rugby club based in Llantrisant, have been awarded £500 from Welsh Water’s Community Fund.
Throughout the pandemic, the club were unable to participate in training, playing club games or coaching to its members. However, since receiving funding from Welsh Water, restrictions have started to ease and the club have been able to start opening up to its players and supporters once again.
The funding received from Welsh Water has been used to purchase new equipment and chairs for their older supporters to use while watching their games. This has helped boost the health and wellbeing of both players and supporters, encouraged people to make new friends and help bring the local community together again.
James Little, founder and chairman of The Bowmen Sevens Rugby Club, said: “Without the support from the Welsh Water Community Fund we would not have been able to afford new playing kit, a new first aid bag and hiring of facilities – which all of us at the Bowmen are very grateful for. We have even managed to purchase some chairs for our older spectators to use when watching us.”
The company’s Community Fund is an opportunity for communities to boost fundraising efforts for good causes in their area.
