River Schools Education Programme

‘River Schools’ is an educational programme delivered to schools by Groundwork North Wales, in conjunction with Natural Resources Wales. The aim is to educate and raise awareness of the river environment.

The programme will be delivered to schools within 24 catchments in north Wales that are failing WFD ‘good’ status. Engaging with school children is invaluable in helping communities take action to improve their environment, as children are often a catalyst for adults taking action.

Dŵr Cymru awarded funding for the development of the programme, and to date significant progress has been made, with the first pilot programme proving successful. The programme is proving so successful that it is potentially going to be duplicated in other parts of the country.
