Ruth is an elected member of the Royal Institution of South Wales and is a member of the Futures Group for Swansea Museum. She is a member of the executive committee of Swansea Environmental Forum.
Prior to this she was an elected member of the UK Council of the Co-operative Group (Food, Insurance, Funerals & Legal businesses), advised the Landscape Institute and the Historic Houses Association on Wales policy, was a member of the Ministerial Panel conducting a fundamental review of Wales' National Parks & Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty, a board member of the RICS UK Research Trust, a member of Environment Wales' grants adjudication panel and helped deliver training across Wales on water management & sustainable drainage via Cardiff University's Built Environment Sustainability Training programme. Previously Ruth was Head of Policy & Communications for the National Trust Wales, and executive director of Wales Environment Link. She has served on the boards of the Welsh Development Agency, Pembrokeshire Coast National Park Authority and the Institute of Welsh Affairs.
