Lisa qualified as a dental surgeon in 1977. After a short spell in general dental practice she moved to the Community Dental Service, working in both England and Wales until 2008. Her main interests were caring for people with special clinical needs, particularly those with head injury, at end of life and who were housebound. In 1987 she gained a Master’s Degree in Community Dental Health from Birmingham University. Lisa was an Independent Member of Swansea Local Health Board and worked for the Welsh Government’s Clinical Governance Support and Development Unit supporting clinical teams to improve quality and safety. Lisa was the Deputy Chief Dental Officer at Welsh Government from June 2012 until her retirement in December 2019. Her role included development and delivery of the quality and safety agenda including working closely with Health Education and Improvement Wales (HEIW), the 1000 Lives Service Improvement team and Healthcare Inspectorate Wales.
